Students in STEM Cultures have begun their studies of Spanish I. Our learning for this first unit centers around the theme of “It’s nice to meet you!” Students are learning how to introduce themselves and others, and have a casual conversation, including answering and answering simple questions involving names, dates, birthdays, and nationalities.
We are also working on understanding weather terminology, and they are practicing by listening to authentic weather forecasts in Spanish. Students completed their first assessment this week, by presenting a conversation with a classmate. Next week we will begin working on talking about likes and dislikes.
There is a lot of vocabulary introduced in Spanish I, and students should study new vocabulary weekly. They have a Notability subject set up for Spanish, with notes from class to review. They can also use the Duolingo app to practice beginning conversation skills.
We are off to a great start, and students are excited to begin using their new Spanish skills!
