Despite the flurry of snow and cold days, we are halfway through our class on Culture of Geography for STEM Cultures. We started the class with looking at several aspects of geography including topography and landforms, climate, and natural resources. For each of these subjects, we learned about key geographical terms, and then looked at how these elements of geography have influenced cultures around the world.
This week, students began work on their final project, which will be a country research project. We are using the tool Google My Maps to create annotated and layered maps that show students’ research on the topography, landmarks, and natural resources within the country of their choice. They will then select one natural attraction within their country to become an “expert tour guide”. We will be showcasing our projects with a gallery walk during class on March 6th & 7th. Parents are welcome to join us to see some of the amazing work these students are doing!
