Fall physical education is now in full swing. Fitnessgram has been recently completed and activity time outside of school is tracked for the month of September. Students should be mindful of moderate to vigorous physical activity outside of the school day.
Physical Education students have been working on American Football skills (passing, catching, centering, kicking, and learning the various aspects of the game). Soon we will put it all together in a fun flag football game where students can apply their learning to an actual game situation.
For the next unit, we will be setting up our personal fitness programming where your child can set up their own personalized workout circuit choosing a variety of exercises using multiple pieces of physical fitness equipment. Students will be set to build, strength, endurance, flexibility, and some cardiovascular endurance.
Quick tip for the month - if your child spends too much time on the computer, make a rule where for every minute of time on the computer/game device, they will have to do something physical to get some exercise(running, biking, lifting weights - even doing chores around the house/yard.)
