THE GREAT STEM CATAPULT (Trebuchet) CHALLENGE IS COMING!!!
This week we will be sending home collection envelopes, so that families can send in any funds raised thus far. Our first Turn-In Date is this Friday, December 9 and the second Turn-In Date is Monday, December 19. The envelopes, along with some very important information about company matches and the competition itself, should be heading home by Thursday. This gives families who may have already collected a good deal of fundraising dollars for STEM, a chance to send them in and not have the money sitting around the house. If families would like to continue their fundraising efforts, please feel free to hang on to the dollars, company matches and/or checks and then send in on the second Turn-In Date, on December 19. Attached, you will find the information that has gone out previously, with some pretty cool details on the competition and the different categories in which our students have opportunities to win BIG TIME! We are offering prizes ranging from several trips to a Wisconsin Dells Waterpark (Room + Waterpark Passes!), to some technology & gadgets (iPod touches) and gift certificates to some of the finest local establishments that Waukesha has to offer. These prizes will be shared with students at both campuses this week, to really fire up the excitement! As an added bonus and to help kick off the creative side of your brain, CHECK OUT THIS AMAZING VIDEO FROM MYTH-BUSTERS on constructing the best trebuchet possible! If you've never seen Myth-Busters, these boys get it done... in a major way! This should get your ideas cooking at home and is a great way to connect with your student on crafting the best Catapult possible! I'll also be sharing this info. out with students tonight, to get them jazzed. May the best STEM~Engineer win!
