TRINITY ACADEMY OF IRISH DANCE HAS EXTRAORDINARY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFYING WEEKEND

Wisconsin (November 28, 2016)--For months, Milwaukee based competitors from the Trinity Academy of Irish Dance have been rigorously training for the Mid-America Championships of Irish dance (called the Oireachtas), a vibrant, culturally rich activity reminiscent of competitive sport where top qualifiers earn World Championship qualification. Each Thanksgiving weekend, the regional championships brings together competitors from 70 dancing schools across 14 participating states. This year’s competition was held at the Schaumburg Convention Center. The Trinity Irish Dancers led all Mid-American Irish dancing schools winning 8 championship titles.
Ryan Peter placed 2nd at the Regional Championships and will represent Trinity and Waukesha at the World Championships of Irish dance (often referred to as the Olympics of Irish dance), held April 9-16, 2017, in Dublin, Ireland.
While Trinity Irish Dancers has won an unprecedented 36 world titles, more than any other dance school in North American history, instructors encourage dancers to focus on the journey, rather than the trophies. Their powerful philosophy of empowerment teaches students life lessons both on and off the dance floor, and the importance of having fun while developing self-respect and confidence.
Learn the Jig from some of the nation’s top dancers and celebrate with your local world qualifiers as we offer a free lesson this Friday December 2nd at our home studios located at 577 E Erie St, Milwaukee, WI. The 30 minute lesson will begin at 5:00 pm and you will have the opportunity to meet some of your local champions. After the lesson, you are invited to walk down to the Christmas Tree Lighting in the Third Ward and catch our performance outdoors at 6:00 pm!
About Trinity Academy of Irish Dance:
Trinity Academy welcomes dancers between three and a half and ten. From the first class, dancers learn poise, confidence, discipline and balance through teamwork and leadership. Dancers determine their own level of participation, whether it be competitive or purely recreational. Instructors use a distinct, noncompetitive teaching method that places children on a journey, teaching the beauty of the dance form as well as cultural and life lessons along the way. Trinity’s team dancers have garnered an unprecedented 36 world titles for the United States. Trinity dancers have appeared on nearly every major television network in the U.S. through the following guest appearances: “Conan," “The Today Show,” “The Tonight Show,” “CBS This Morning,” Good Morning America,” “The Martha Stewart Show.” Trinity Academy of Irish Dance has convenient locations in Chicagoland, the greater Milwaukee area, and Madison. They are currently accepting new enrollment for the 2016-17 school year. Locations include: Elmhurst, Lakeview, Chicago's Northwest Side, Chicago's West Loop, Palatine and Western Springs in Illinois, and the Milwaukee, Brookfield, Grafton, Muskego, Sun Prairie, and Verona in Wisconsin. Helping out in the community

This past Thanksgiving Weekend, Deidre Wandsnider spent 5 hours cooking 40 pounds of potatoes for Thanksgiving and spent 6 hours for all food prep, serving, and clean up. Her effort and hard really paid off and went toward a great cause, as she worked with her family and her church. When her heart is in something...she really tries with everything she has and we are so proud of Deidre.
92 plates were filled that night (record :) ), and since January 1st, 2016 there have been 13, 920 meals served at the Hope Center.

Information on the Meal Program at Hope Center:Outreach Meals:
The program began in 1991 to address the need of hunger in our community. Our guests include the homeless, those living in rooming houses or shelters, families trying to stretch their budget, and elderly persons on a fixed income, many of whom are physically and/or mentally impaired. Meals are served on Monday, Wednesday and Friday 5:30pm at Hope Center. We currently partner with St. Vincent de Paul, Food Pantry of Waukesha County, The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), local restaurants, area congregations, and individuals to offer a hot, nutritionally balanced meal three times a week. We feed approximately 90-100 men, women, and children at each meal. In conjunction with the Salvation Army, Waukesha residents who are in need receive one hot, fresh, nutritious meal every day of the week. Our facility is available to Loaves and Fishes for a Sunday meal.
In 2015, we served 12,544 evening meals to almost 9,000 individuals. Over 13,000 volunteer hours from our community and area congregations helped in serving those meals. Through the continued support of area congregations and community during the year, a total of $703,427 worth of food was donated. Every meal served allows our guests to save money, which in turn can help provide shelter. The social component is priceless in some cases.
