S-3 (STEM STUDENT SHOWCASE) IS BACK!

Over the course of the next week and possibly by week's end, you should be receiving an invite from your student's Advisor, for our S-3 sessions. As we continue to facilitate learning in a proficiency-based learning arena, the importance of metacognition and students owning and articulating their learning is critical. We had great success with this format last spring and will be continuing this format, as it truly allows our students to own the process. For parents who ask, "When is it possible to meet with a specific teacher?" I would simply suggest that you have ongoing conversations throughout the year and typically our staff are meeting and communicating with parents all year-around, each and every day... to help keep a finger on the pulse. Don't wait until conference time, or year's end to find out that your student is struggling, or falling behind... tough to hear that all at once, when it could have been prevented with a strong parent-school-student triangle.

The STEM Science Department will be hosting a Curriculum Night, focused on how science works at STEM and they would like to go over some of the basics including procedures, curriculum, standards, and expectations pertaining to all things science. During this time you will get a chance to meet all the science teachers as they co-present this information and break out individually to answer more specific questions.
The Curriculum Night will be held on October 20th.
There will be three meetings at 3:00pm, 4:00pm and 5:00pm.
