mS. WOELFEL IS COMING TO STEM TO TALK SHOP ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL COURSE-SELECTION
WITH OUR 8TH GRADERS
Hello 8th Grade STEM students and Parents,
Ms. Woelfel will be at STEM - Saratoga on Thursday (2/2/16) this week and Tuesday (2/7/16), to begin conversations with 8th grade students about high school, graduation requirements, and course-selection. Students will bring more information home after they meet with Ms. Woelfel next week. Then, she will meet with all 8th graders in smaller groups during connect, the week of February 6-10, to have more specific conversations about classes and students' choices. Students will receive information on course-selection and bring home the form to choose classes after these meetings. Finally, the week of February 14-16, she will again visit with the 8th grade students at STEM and enter their selections into Infinite Campus.
It is the hope that this will give parents and students plenty of time to get all necessary information and have conversations about high school and the courses that they have selected.

Public Speaking - Forensics Club
Has Started!

Sign-ups have already begun for Forensics, but it is not too late! Students may sign-up by completing the link here, or the one that was emailed to them last week.
STEM - Saratoga is once again proud to announce the start of our Public Speaking Club-Forensics. Students who participate in the club, pick a piece of material they wish to present from the various categories listed on the website below. They will practice their pieces and get feedback during connect and flex times over the next two months. The culminating experience will be a Forensics Festival on Thursday, March 30, at Butler Middle School. Students participating in the festival, will be scored based on the rubric for that category. Awards and medals will be handed out to students who demonstrate exemplary skills that meet the expectations of that category. We highly recommend students think about participating in this exciting event and club, as a way to get past stage fright and to help enhance their public speaking skills.
Students will need to make a commitment of meeting with Mr. Hoffmann once a week [minimum] to work on and refine their forensics piece. Mr. Hoffmann will be talking with students about the club in the upcoming week. We are looking for a February 1st commitment date from students as to whether they are interested or not, so we can begin the process of finding their pieces. Please use the link below to view the various categories students may participate in this year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mr. Hoffmann (jhoffman@waukesha.k12.wi.us) at any time.
Have a great day!
