Last week, the science classes reflected on the expectations of the science fair unit. We reviewed key components of a science fair project, practiced modifying a project using our proficiency reflection tool, and reviewed resources for helping select experiment ideas.
This week, students will be selecting their projects on Monday. Once they have their experiment idea, we will complete a proficiency reflection tool on Tuesday to ensure that the project meets the grade level proficiency. We will also complete a cost analysis tool on Wednesday that students will share with parents. After both of these steps have been completed, we will send parents a Google Form about the selected project. We are asking parents to complete this form prior to starting the science fair experiments. The form will confirm to us that you are comfortable with the project choice and cost of the project. If you have any concerns, please have your student select a different project idea as soon as possible.
Later this week and going into next week, the science classes will start writing our scientific procedures and creating our data tables. Once a project has been confirmed and these two expectations have been successfully completed, students can begin testing. All testing is expected to be completed at school, we can support the scientific process and to address any concerns.
The links below are resources provided to students to help guide them as they make their final decision on their science fair experiment.
