What we completed this week!
The science class began experimenting this week. At this point, students should have their materials list checked off (assignment #3), their experiment analysis (assignment #4), and they should have finished their procedures (assignment #5) of this week in class. Students will have Monday of next week to continue to experiment and the week we return of November 26th. All experiments should wrap up by Friday, November 30th. In order to support students with various parts of their project, we offered seminars about the differences in variables, writing procedures, and how to measure results scientifically. Students should apply this knowledge as they construct and execute their scientific trials.
What we will complete next week!
Once students complete the experimentation phase of the project, they will research why they got the results they did and build the case why their trials were relevant to broader problem. The research will be used as part of the presentation students will give during the week of December 17th, when they go public with their findings. All of this research will be built on a website that students can use during the presentation. Just like last year, no trifold boards will be needed for this project.
Procedure Writing Exemplar
Below you will find a link to various grade level proficiencies. Students reviewed this document to ensure they were writing to the desired grade level. Please review it with your student to understand how their science procedures will be evaluated.
