Current Happenings
Over the past two weeks, students engaged in a variety of activities aimed at helping them to select an inquiry project. We focused on a variety of problems in society right now and the potential solutions that could be created to help alleviate those concerns. Students have now spent this past week working on developing background on their selected problem and what we have done in the past to solve this problem. By knowing the history, we hope students can see the problems with past solutions as they craft their own ideas of how they would solve the problem.
Next Steps
Next week, we will continue to focus on the solutions to the problems students have chosen. Students will research current solutions to the problems and potential concerns with those ideas. Once they have an understanding of the past and present solutions, they will develop their idea of how we should tackle the problem next. In many instances, this will be a modification to an existing solution. Students will spend the final two weeks before spring break using all of this research and background knowledge to develop their final project.
For All Rubrics
All previous unit assignments have been taken off of For All Rubrics, so students focus on the unit at hand. As mentioned earlier, please keep in mind that check-ins for this unit’s assignments represent multiple days of work. Therefore, it is important that students stay current with their work, since it will be harder to break up the “snowball” of missing work.
