At STEM, we utilize a program called Aleks. Each learner has their own account with math topics that are relevant to their readiness level. They take an initial knowledge check that guides them to what they’re ready to learn next; this content is broken down into topics. We encourage all learners to complete on average 10-14 topics a week, and to finish their Aleks Pie before the end of the school year. Some days, they will have time to work on it in class; they have time to work on it during Connect/FLEX; and if they don’t have time during the school day, it’s expected that they work on it outside of school at home, the library, or somewhere with WiFi. The Aleks math program can be worked on the iPad, desktop computer, laptop, tablet, phone, and any other device with internet/WiFi capability.
Please stay updated with your child’s teachers’ newsletters to read the recommended pacing to finish their pie by the end of the school year.
For All Rubrics (FAR):
As a school, we are using For All Rubrics to house student evidence of learning. This includes daily work as well as summative assessments. Please check FAR at least once each week to see how your student is progressing. Any red checkmarks indicate that there is a missing task that has yet to be completed. If it is past the due date, students will need to advocate for themselves and see the teacher during Connect/Flex to check it in. If your child has all green checkmarks, all necessary work has been turned in.
