The warmer weather is here! With that also means the end of the school year is getting closer! Heading into spring break is a great time to check in with your student about the following things:
- ALEKS → Have your student show you their Personalized Pacing Guide. At this point of the year, they should be nearing a minimum of 75% of their grade-level ALEKS pie completed. If your student is behind this mark, they should be devoting some time over break to catching up. Remember that your student’s ALEKS subscription is a 12 month subscription, meaning if they do not finish their ALEKS pie by the end of the school year they are expected to finish over the summer months.
- Google Classroom → Have your student show you their “To-Do” list in Google Classroom for math. If there are any missing or overdue tasks, now is the time to get as many of those things taken care of so proficiencies can be properly assessed prior to the end of the year.
- Math Continuum → Have your student pull this up in either For All Rubrics or directly from their Google Drive. Anything that is highlighted green means that your student has been assessed and has shown proficiency. Anything that is highlighted yellow means that your student is approaching proficient on that skill. Anything that is white means that it has not been assessed yet.
As you may recall from the past few years, spring isn’t only for the new flowers, but it is also testing season! The State of Wisconsin uses two tests to measure students’ success based on their grade level. We use the annual Forward Exam and MAPs assessments. Hopefully you have been reading Mr. Murray’s weekly newsletters; the Forward Exam is starting the week of March 22, and the MAPs is starting in May. We encourage our students to do their best, get a good night’s sleep the night before, and make sure their iPad is charged!
We hope you have a relaxing, fun, and safe spring break!
