On Friday, January 10th the Saratoga Future Cities teams that qualified based on the school competition will compete with other teams across the district. Below you will find a schedule for the day with team names listed. Teams will give their presentation one of two time slots with the other serving as model judging. During the model judging times, teams will be by their model as judges come around to ask them questions and evaluate specific aspects of the model. Parents are welcome to watch the presentation and/or the model judging.
After the District Competition on January 10th, we will announce the 4 teams that qualified for the MSOE competition and 2 alternate teams. As we posted earlier, the regional MSOE competition will be held on Saturday, January 18th. More details will come out with teams that qualify. However, here are a few reminders:
1) Teams need to have at least 3 group members who can attend the competition, since that is how many need to present and should be ready to answer judges questions.
2) Teams are responsible for transporting the model to and from MSOE.
3) The event will start around 7:30 and wrap up in the early afternoon depending on how well teams do at the competition.
STEaM Gallery Walk - Thursday, January 16th
On Thursday, January 16th from 3:00 - 6:00 P.M., we will be hosting our STEaM gallery walk for ALL Future Cities students to present and display the work they have completed over the past several months. Since Future Cities is a presentation based experience, we wanted to offer an evening opportunity for parents to see and hear about the work being done. Therefore, we are asking parents and students to discuss what time frames might potentially work for them to come in and hear the presentations during a 15 minute window. Teams will discuss those times on Monday, January 6th to try to find a common time to present on that Thursday. If a student cannot make that time, they will be welcome to visit to show the model at a different time, but would not be part of the presentation group. We will email parents the confirmation times of these presentations after Monday’s team conversations. Parents and students are also welcome to visit other presentations that night, but how long you stay before or after the presentation is up to you. Thank you again for supporting this very unique project opportunity and we look forward to seeing continued work of our students who are preparing for the district competition.
