Finishing Future Cities
We are rapidly approaching the end of the Future Cities project. The next two weeks will be critical to students as they work to finish their model and presentation. Teams have now spent over two weeks working on the model with two weeks left to complete it. As we have discussed in previous updates, students have a variety of additional opportunities to complete the model beyond just the remaining STEaM periods, such as FLEX and after school work times. Please check with your student as to their progress and how they are using their time.
Future Cities School and District Competition Updates
On Thursday, December 19th, teams will be sharing their models to a group of judges in a 7 minute prepared presentation. After all presentations are completed, we will combine the scores from the SIM City reflection, essay, model, and presentation to determine the teams that qualify for the district competition. Teams will be notified later on Thursday if they qualified for the district competition. In years past, some teams that make it onto the next level have asked to take the model home over break to enhance it prior to the district competition on Friday, January 10th, which is fine as long as it is picked up prior to 3:00 P.M. on Friday, December 20th. Teams are expected to make arrangements for return of the model, once we return to session after winter break. After the district competition, we will notify teams that qualify for the regional MSOE competition on Saturday, January 18th.
