It may be cold and wintry outside, but the choir room is already preparing for the spring concert (May 22nd). Because the next concert is choir students only, we have many more songs to learn than we did for the winter concert.
Did you know that it takes about 2 hours of focused practice to fully memorize only 30 seconds of music? Because choir class is only about 30 minutes long and only meets 2 days a week, students should make it a habit to practice with the recordings on Google Classroom daily. Just 15 minutes a day of focused practice will build confidence in their abilities, improve their intonation, and help them to retain the information that is learned in class. It's also a wonderful way for students who are absent from school to stay on track with the rest of the class.
"Practice isn't the thing you do once you're good. It's the thing you do that makes you good." Malcolm Gladwell
Please encourage your child to practice their songs daily. :-)
